WEDDING BELLS

KERR—CROZIER A wedding of local interest took place in St. George’s Church, Whakatane, on Easter Monday, April 22, when Peggy Jean, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs R. H. Crozier, of Edge-, cumbe, was married to Calton Bernard, youngest son of Mr and the late Mrs J. Kerr of Opotiki. Rev Drake performed the ceremony and Mrs Fraser presided at the organ. Memers of the choir attended. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a full-length gown of cream lace and georgette, offset by trailing veil of soft tulle. Her bouquet was composed of cream roses and Easter flowers. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ngaire Crozier, as bridesmaid, who wore blue lace and georgette, pink floral-head-dress and carried a bouquet of toning flowers. Mr Stan -Kerr, -of- Edgecumbe, brother of the bridegroom, attended as best man. A happy gathering of seventy-five guests assembled in the Parish Hall to do honour to the bride and groom, and to partake of the sumptuous wedding breakfast. Mrs Crozier received her guests in a smart tailormade navy suit, with navy and white hat and pink shoulder spray.

Mrs C. Yeoman (sister of the bridegroom) wore a henna frock with matching hat and shoulder spray. A merry gathering resulted in the course*of which solos were rendered by Mrs Shaw ‘Because’ and Mrs Reg Thompson ‘All Packed up in my Little Bottom Draw.’ Mr C. King-sley-Smith carried out the duties of Master of Ceremonies and the folIpwing • toast list was honoui'ed: ‘Loyal Toast’ Mr C. Kingsley-Smith; ‘Bride and Bridegroom’ Mr C. King-sley-Smith and the Bridegroom; ‘The Bridesmaid’ the Bridegroom and the Best Man; ‘The Bride’s Parents’ Mr L. Jones and Mr Crozier; ‘The Bridegroom’s Father and Mrs Yeoman’ Mr Shaw and Mr Kerr; ‘Absent Friends’ Mr Selwyn Yeoman; ‘The Ladies’ Mr Kelvin Crozier.

The beautiful three tiered wedding cake was the artistic work of Mrs Print. Mr and Mrs Kerr Jun. left later on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a smart suit of autumn tonings with coat to match. They will make their future home in Whakatane.
