REFEREES MEET

ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION

RUGBY MATTERS DISCUSSED The annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Referees Association took place recently, delegates being present from Rotorua, Tauranga, Te Puke and Whakatane. Mr Burt gave a report on the year’s work and also extended a hearty welcome to the delegates. The balance sheet was read and adopted. The election of officers took place as under:— - Patron: Mr F. J. Burt (Matata). President: Mr C. Burt (Tauranga). Vice-president: Mr Mason (Rotorua). Secretary-Treasurer: Mr R. Woolliams. Appointment Board: President, Vice-president and Secretary. Delegates to Bay of Plenty Union: Mr Woolliams. It was decided to hold the annual meeting earlier in the year, in order to select a delegate in time for the N.Z.R.U. Conference. It was resolved that the affiliation fee be raised to £1 Is. It was also decided to hold two or more meetings during the season in order to ensure more uniformity of ruling among the referees of the Bay The following resolutions were carried:— That all appointments of referees for Representative games under the jurisdiction of the Bay Union, should be left to the Appointment Board. That an allocation of Preferential Booking tickets to International and inter-island games be requested. Several of the delegates spoke of the work of the Secretary, Mr R. H. Wodlliams and it was unanimously decided that he be made a life member of the Bay of Plenty Referees Association. With regard to the Referees Cup, it was decided to play for this at Matata on a date to be fixed. Mr Still of Rotorua, was appointed selector for the Western end and it was resolved to ask Mr L. Davies of Opotiki, to act for the Eastern end.
