EASTER WEDDING

HEGH—HOGBIN

A very charming wedding was solemnised in St. George’s Anglican Church, Whakatane, on Easter Tuesday, when Eva Ella, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Hogbin, of Otakiri, was married to Alfred Ole, second son of Mr and Mrs C. Hegh, of Edgecumbe. The Rev. Drake officiated, and the wedding music was played by Mrs R. Thompson. The church was prettily decorated with Easter flowers, and the bride made a graceful pictui’e as she entered with her father. Her frock was of embossed satin, with heartshaped neck, long pointed sleeves, and fully gathered into a low-waist yoke, which was embroidered with silver and peari beads. The circular train was finished with a pleated frill, and the veli was appliqued in each corner with satin flowers. She wore a headdress of orange blossoms and pearls, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern.

Miss Pat Hegh who attended as bridesmaid, wore a frock of pale blue sheer with scalloped joke at waist, embroidered with beads and sequins, and veil of blue net and ribbon which was finished with topknot of flowers to match her bouquet of gold chrysanthemums. Mr H. Knibb, of Tirau, ably carried out the duties of best man.

About fifty guests attended the reception in the Caledonian Hall, where Mrs Hogbin received her guests wearing sax blue with black accessories, and a shoulder spray of red and white flowers. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black ensemble, black and white accessories and autumn shaded shoulder spray. The tables had been prettily decorated and pride of place was taken up with a beautifully iced wedding cake. Mr F. Storer made an excellent toastmaster.

The bride and bridegroom left later on a month’s'tour, the bride travelling in tan coloured dress and hat, beige coat and bead accessories. They will make their future home at Otakiri.
