“This is an excellent illustration of the lack of town-planning in the layout of the townships in the County,” said Mr J. L. Burnett, chairman of the Whakatane County Council at last meeting. “Edgecumbe has been thrown together with a pitchfork and is still being so.” The subject under discussion was the creation of an alternative route in order to divert heavier traffic from the township and the whole matter was referred to the Works Commttee to investigate.
