CARNIVAL CONCLUSION
SATURDAY, APRIL 13
The Queen Carnival at present being staged in support of the R.S.A. Welfare Memorial Appeal concludes on Saturday, April 13 with the race meeting at Te Teko. Competition between the various queen candidates in town and country has reached a high pitch which will doubtless continue till the stroke of midnight on the final day. On the night of April 13, dances will be held in support of each queen, and it is up to residents in each district to lend their fullest support. Although voting figures have been published, these actually give no more indication of the true position than the various committees desire, as each, we understand, is holding substantial amounts in reserve, ready to be thrown in at the eleventh hour. One thing certain, however, is that the contest will be very close, and the finish should prove as exciting as the final dash down the straight in the Melbourne Cup.
