Labourer’s Injury While lifting logs at the Matahina forests of the Whakatane Paper Mills Ltd., a labourer, Leonard Unkovich, suffered injuries to his back necessitating his removal to the Whakatane Hospital. His condition is not serious. New Concrete Footpath The new concrete footpath which the Borough Council is at present forming in Russell Street is nearing completion, and is an excellent job in all respects. The footpath is expected to be completed towards the end of next week. M.U.1.0.0.F. Success The Loyal Rangitaiki Lodge was successful in winning the Membership Shield for the year ended 1945. The shield is presented to the Lodge, which makes the highest increase in membership. The award was presented to Bro. Storer P.G., Secretary of the Lodge, by Bro. H. V. Hampton D.G.M., at the annual conference held recently in Auckland.
