REGENT PREVIEW
“THUNDERHEAD, SON OF
FLICKA”
To all who saw the great production “My Friend Flicka,” “Thunderhead, Son of Flicka” will represent more than just another horse picture. Coming to the Regent tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, the film version of Mary O’Hara’s best-loved, best-seller, can be safely recommended to every audience. Depicting a boy’s dreams, and his dogged determination to make a racer out of the wild white colt Flicka had brought into the world, “Thunderhead” may be classed amongst the greatest turf epics the screen has ever presented. Filmed in rich technicolour, it has as its stars, Roddy McDowall, now a top-ranking artist, Preston Foster and Rita Johnson, all three noted for their outstanding work in “My Friend Flicka.”
Concerning “Thunderhead, Son of Flicka” the New Zealand Herald, in its weekly critique, stated that it was a most unusual type of picture in that although a sequel story, it surpassed the original—the highest recommendation the picture could have received.
