R.S.A. APPEAL
EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the Executive of the Whakatane R.S.A. was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Friday the Ist March there being a full attendance of members. Mr L. H. Brown reported on the sub-com-mittee that met to discuss the alteration of rules in respect to dividing the district into wards, and it was proposed that the rules be left as at present, and that the election of officers take place as usual at the annual meeting to be held at some date in April. Also that two Maori representatives be elected to the committee at the annual meeting, one Eastern and one Western.
* In regard to Queen Carnival Funds, it was resolved as follows : 1. That the funds from the Queen Carnival should be placed in an account, or accounts, to be called the “Memorial Fund Account.” 2. Such funds should be used and applied as follows : (a) For the relief of Distressed Servicemen, or Service Women, by straight out grants, or interest free loans, (b) To assist with the education of children of dec J eased or disabled Servicemen. 3. That the fund should be under the control of the Executive of the Association from time to time, with power to the Executive to invest the funds or such part thereof as were not immediately required, and such investments as the Executive might see fit, provided that such investments were of the class or classes for the time being authorised by law for the investment of Trust
Monies. . ’ The above resolution will relieve the minds of the public in respect to the manner in which the Queen Carnival Funds will be expended.
