HEARTFELT THANKS
LETTER FROM GREECE APPRECIATION OF GIFTS An interesting letter received from Greece by a local business girl who despatched garments in one of the recent drives for clothes, for the relief of suffering in occupied countries has been handed into this office. The letter reads as follows: ‘Dear Miss —, I am perfectly sure you will be happy getting this note from an unknown person in Greece. I received a pair of gloves from the British Military Service, and found your address. I thank you with all my heart, and wish you every happiness and good luck; you are a nice girl. I believe you have parents—give them our regards. We are only a man and wife, and have no children, that is why' I write to you as my own daughter. Please answer my letter, as my husband is very lonesome without children. We have helped and nursed many English soldiers captured by Germans as prisoners, and we hid four English prisoners. We received stockings and gloves from the British for our service. Truly, Gianoula Stephanopuloi, Kavakln Salonica, St. Athanasios, Greece.’
