ODD SNIPPINGS At a full meeting of the combined County Committee held at Taneatua over the weekend, the Chairman, Mr T. Mackin, welcomed Taneatua and Matata delegates from the new-ly-formed carnival groups. Members present expressed regret that otherdistricts had not joined up, as it was felt that the campaign was worthy of the effort of the district as a whole. It was reported that every standing district was organised to the full and was promoting dances, sports meetings, social gatherings and gymkhanas.
A feature of the carnival will be the wind-up race meeting to be held at Te Teko on April 13. This will be a County-wide effort and will be organised by a special sub-commit-tee. All fnds resulting will be divided between the two leading princesses at the time. The County Committee is determined to make it a really first-class show, and the day will be enjoyed by one and all. Edgecumbe was overheard to remark, that although over-burdened by a heavyweight, Matata will not see the way they go for dust when they take their boots off. With reference to dust, it is well known that the Edgecumbe township is yet to be tarsealed.
Princess Kathleen, after announcing the position of her votes, is not to be left long to enjoy her laurels. Te Teko have boosted Princess Ellen to - such an extent that she can now lay claim to 2402 votes.
