REV. J. C. J. WILSON
PARISHIONERS FAREWELL PRESENTATIONS In deference to a request from, the Bishop of the Diocese The Rev. J. C. J. Wilson of Whakatane decided at short notice last Fridayevening to accept the position of Padre to the Japan Occupational Force which is due to leave in the near future. Parishioners of St. George’s Anglican Church last Sunday evening took the opportunity of farewelling both Rev. and Mrs Wilson and expressing their appreciation of their services over the 18 months they have been in Whakatane. »
Mr C. R. Coates spoke on behalf of those present, and said that they all regretted exceedingly that the Rev. Wilson was called upon to leave the Parish, but trusted that after his eighteen months of service had elapsed, he would be back to take up his work in Whakatane once again.
Mr E. Ramson then presented the guest of honour on behalf of the parishioners, with a fountain pen, and Allan Taylor, for the Sunday School and Kindergarten, made a presentation of a beautiful leather writing compendium. Mr Wilson replied on behalf of himself, and his wife and family, thanking those present for the gifts, and saying that he was anticipating the day when he would be able to return to the town, and carry on with his work. Until then, he wished parishioners all the best for the future, and once again thanked them for the support they had rendered him in the past-
