HELPING THE DESTITUTE
OTAKIRI’S FINE EFFORT
£IOO FOR CORSO During the last few weeks the people of the Otakiri district have been working to obtain funds, clothing etc. for overseas relief. As a result £IOO (one hundred pounds) t has been forwarded to CORSO; 12 “relief” parcels valued at approximately £1 each have also been sent; and a considerable quantity of valuable clothing which has been donated will be sent forward as soon as it can be got ready to pack. Of the £IOO whicn was forwarded half is being devoted towards expenses of sending relief personnel to Greece £SO, and the balance for clothing, spinning wheels, wool suitable for spinning and relief parcels. An Efficient Organisation
The efficiency and smooth working of the International Red Cross Organisation is demonstrated by the following: On November 14, 1944, a next-of-kin parcel was despatched to a prisoner of war in Teschen, Germany. It did not, however, reach the addressee, and was returned to the sender earlier this month, having been half way round the world.
