"Burying” a Cat
When an Auckland woman lost her pet cat by misadventure, she was in a quandary as how to dispose of the bodj r : —she lived in a flat and was unable to bury it in the usual way. Eventually she decided to bu?y it at sea. With considerable care she made a neat parcel of the cat and boarded a tramcar for the city intending to make a trip across the harbour by ferry. She was unable to lind a seat, but an obliging male took charge *of the parcel, remarking as he did so that it was heavy for its size. “Yes; it’smy weekend meat— a choice roast of pork,” replied the. woman. As the tram tilled up the owner of the dead eat had to move along the car, and. when she reached the city she diS'covercd that both the obliging passenger and the parcel had disappeared. The woman is still wondering how the body of her late pet was finally disposed of.
