SOME KEEN SETS A team from the Taneatua Tennis Club visited Te Puke at the weekend to play for the Morton Cup. Te Puke the holders defeated Taneatua by 12 games to 4..
The Te Puke Club entertained the visitors in* generous fashion and the day was thoroughly enjoyed. Following arc details of the games Taneatua names being mentioned
first in each instance.: — Ladies’ Singles.: Mrs Hill lost to Miss Riddell 4/6 } 4/6; Mrs Glover beat Mrs Saunders 6/4 ? 6/2; Miss Baxter lost to Miss Brownlee 4/6 1/6;, Mrs Tebbutt lost to Mrs Mikkelsen 4/6 ; 4/6.
Men’s Singles: Rawson lost to Flowers G/5 } l/6 } 4/6; Sisam lost to Natuschka 2/6 } 4/6; Semmens lost to Williams ()/(>, 0/G; Reid beat Blundell 6/5 ? 5/6 6/1.
Ladies’ Doubles: Miss Baxter and Mrs Hill lost to Misses Riddell and Brownlee 1/6 4/6; Mrs Glover and Mrs Tebbutt beat Mrs Saunders and Miss Mikkelsen 6/4 4/6 6/3. Men’s Doubles: Rawson and Sisam lost to Flowers and Williams 6/3, 0/6 5/6; Semmens and Reid lost to Natuschka and Blundell 6/2, 6/5.
