WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT TANEATUA The February meeting of the AYomen’s Institute at Taneatua was held in the supper room of the hall recently. Mrs Gardner presided over a fair attendance of members. Minutes. were read and adopted and two new members proposed namely Mrs A. Tebutt and Mrs Hurle. Discussion on the Eisteddfod to be held in Whakatane in March occupied considerable time and arrangements were shown to be well advanced.

Owing to there not being a full meeting nominations for the position of president were held over until the March meeting but nominations for the committee were taken.

The roll call “Hints for the re moval of stains” was well respond, ed to.

Competitions were as follows: Jar of plums Mrs Kempton 1; Mrs Benn nett 2. The judge ? Mrs Sisam of Whakatane. very kindly gave a few helpful hints on the judging of. preserves. Best shrub ilower Mrs Doran 1; Mrs Fitchett 2.

The meeting closed with the Naional Anthem.
