FRUIT SALES CONTROL CRUSHING OUT RETAILER The following telegram front the Whakatane Retailers’ Association has been forwarded to the Acting-Prime Minister:— “Whakatane Retailers’ Association desires to enter an emphatic protest against the action i of the Fruit Marketing Council in proposing that the imhlic should be encouraged to purchase pip fr-ujts direct from Inv ternal Marketing Assembly points. The Association considers such proposal a direct threat to the Retail l'ruit trade. Such proposals do not decrease the price of fruit to the public and deprive retailers of their legitimate trade. We strongly recommend that you intervene with a view to allowing fruit marketing to remain as before.”
