Wainui Te Whare Gorge Damage

The running of concrete in second retaining wall has been completed. There is considerable work yet to be done in removal of shutters and cleaning up. Some hundreds of cubic yards of filling from mechanical shovel working lower down has been carted and dumped behind the concrete walls and the roadway, while not widened to full extent of walls is reasonably wide and safe. To complete the filling of retaining walls a. further 960 cubic yards is required estimated to cost £75. If this amount is not available the filling could be made a gradual process, (Borough Foreman’s report to the Borough Council last week).
