OFF TO GREECE
WORK WITH UNRRA LOCAL. MAN SAILS Accepted and passed lit for service in UNRIIA, Mr Bruce Watts for long tlie popular garage foreman at Messrs Armstrongs Ltd. ? left Whakatane last Monday to sail for scivvice in Greece. Mr Watts decision to volunteer for service in this capacity was not widely known and when he was suddenly called up at short notice_ it came as a great surprise to the majority of his. friends. 'Brucc' will have full charge of a transport section wh'ich will be devoted in the service of general relief to the huiv dreds of thousands of sufferers who are in such dire need. Before leaving, he was the recipient of a wristlet watch from members of his old. firm ? and a further presentation from the staff. He was also guest of honour at functions promoted by the Presbyterian Church congregation. Town and district join in wishing him good luck and a safe return.
