Four Whakatane teams travelled to Taneatua on Saturday where the Taneatua-Whakatane Shield was contested ~in the first of the season's series at Taneatua. Taneatua are at present, the holders. Following were the results:— H. Jackson W. Baxter Hancock and Melsaac (s) 22 beat Thomasson ? J. Moody A. Torry and J. llae (s) l(i; R. Ruddick Green, J. Lawn and H. Foster (s) 2(> beat C. Good, J. Bigelow j M. Martin and Tippett (.s) 17; Riddell Home Dixon and Darvill (s) 18 beat Grace Dixon Gradwick and Fergusson (s) 14; Merito, Pearson, Currali and Murphy (s) 28 beat T. Gee J. Black Marsden and 'Hunt (s) 9.' Whakatane. won on an aggregate of 85 points to 6'5. In the Feathers match Taneatua had no difficulty in retaining the honours. SATURDAY'S GAMES DRONES VERSUS WORKERS On Saturday next Wednesday players (Drones) will play Saturday players (Workers). The Drone teams will be as under; — Rutherford R. Stewart Creeke > ! SMITH STARS TROPHIES CHANGE HANDS In last Saturday's game for the Smith Stars, the holders who have put up a line record of defence, both during the present and past season were defeated.
The result was as under: Burt, R. F. Smith M. Martin and R. Murphy (holders) 16 lost to J. C. Coatcs, C. Hayward and G. Oswald (challengers) 29.
