AWAKERI MEETING The Awakeri Branch of tile Women's Division of the Farmers' Un,ion held its monthly meeting in the Awakeri Hall on November 20. Mrs Haultain presided and there was a good attendance; of members and some visitors were welcomed. Satisfaction was expressed at the succcss of the Children's Plain and Fancy Dress Party sponsored by the W.D. and much credit is due to the parents and teachers at the local school. A raffle of Mrs Brizzle's fruit cake made a welcome addition to tlie funds. Members brought their prettiest roses, for display and after business was completed Mrs Drizzle was en j tetained at fl surprise party in honour of her recent bithday. She was presented with a shoulder spray and a bouquet of sweet peas and later cut her birthday cake which was made by Mrs Haultain. Mrs Rushbrook and Mrs Carter delighted the members with songs, and games were also enjoyed. The winners, of the competitions were: —Best llower: Mrs Haultain 1; Mrs. Baty 2; Mrs Miller 3; Best fruit: Mrs Barr 1; Mrs D. MaeDonald 2; Mrs, Wilson 3; Best vegetable: Mrs Gibbons 1; Mrs Baty 2; Mrs Knight 3. The singing of the National Anthem concluded a pleasant afternoon.
