SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION
ST. GEORGE'S ANNUAL BAZAAR Tlie St. George's Annual Bazaar was held last Thursday morning and afternoon in the Parish Hall, was once again an outstanding success, particularly from the financial point of view. A number of attractive and a lunch and afternoon tea 'cafeteria' proved more than sufficient to draw a large crowd, and business was brisk throughout the day. The stalls, were all filled to capac- 4 ity the produce .stall in being of the typical well-laden variety. The fancywork stall displayed an excellent choice of work whilst 9 the stall in charge of the St. George's Girl Group was also freely patronised. The cake stall offered many attractive purchases, whilst the ice cream and sweets sold rapidly. Both the Apron and Plain Goods stalls offered exceedingly? fine work for sale, and were practically cleared at closing time as'was also the fancywork stall. The flower stall was situated at the far end of the-hall and it made a jnctures'que background to the festive array. A stall offering the work of the Sunday School children was exceptionally good. All articles were in the nature of arts and crafts and 1 '9 had been made under the supervision of Miss Lenz. It was under the able management of Mrs A. Coutts and a band of Sunday School workers. The White Elephant stall was once again characterised by the novelty and diversify of the articles offered. The lunch and afternoon tea tables were a popular rendezvous for visiand the ladies in charge were kept fully empoyed. The bazaar opened for business at 10 a.m. Sales were exceedingly brisk and the comparative bareness of the stalls towards the end of the afternoon, bore ample testimony to the success of the function. , The stall-holders were as under:— Cake Stall: Mesdames Sims, Morpeth and Trask; Ice cream: Mrs Dawson; sweets: Mrs Goodall; Plain Stall: Mrs Zinsli; Apron Stall: Mesdames W. Bridger and Shaw; Produce: Mesdames Hannah and Armstrong; Flower Stall: Mesdames Whittaker and Sutcliffe and Miss J. Fennell; Sunday School Stall: Mrs A. Maire. Wor.rall Diana Wilson Maire Burt ? Bpverle3 r King, Margaret Dines, Norman Judd. Jack Bowering and Keith. Bowering; Fancywork Stall: Mesdames Coates and McLeod; White Elephant Stall: Mrs D. Wilson and Miss Righton;, Girls Club Stall: Misses. G. Sutcliffe and A. Wright; Lunch and Afternoon Tea Cafeteria: Mesdames Suckling Rangi limbs Chadwiek 9 9 and McNaughton.
