WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT OTAKIRI The Otakiri Women's Institute : held its October meeting on October 3 in the .Otaldri Hall Mrs Armstrong presiding and there was a good attendance of members in spite of the bad weather. Final details of the concert held at Otakiri by the Women's Institute for Welcome ( Home funds were discussed. Mrs Armstrong gave a report of the bi-annual meeting held at Wat- , niana on September 26. The Golden Thread 'Family Endowment' ay as read by Mrs CristalL The roll call, an exchange of plants and seeds and was well sponded to and gave members an. opportunity of sharing their favourites from the flower beds. Mrs Pope gave an elocution itemwhich was warmly appreciated. Competitions were as follows: —• Cushion wool embroidery: Mrs Peck 1; Mrs F. Mayo 2; Mrs Winters Vase spring flowers: Mrs Armstrong 1; Mrs Missen 2; Mrs G. Murray 3. Best school lunch: Mrs Armstrong 1; Mrs Peck 2; Mrs A. Smith 3. Best flower: Mrs Winters 1; Mrs G. Murray 2; Mrs> Armstronfg 3. Best » vegetable: Mrs Lord 1;« Mrs Mayo 2; Mrs. Winters 3. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames G. and W. Murray.
