THE NEW POST OFFICE (?)

IT was refreshing to note the renewed interest of the Chamber of Commerce, in the old question of the town's new Post Office. If any Government promise, hoary with years of procrastination was ever handed out to a community, Whakatane certainly seems to have won the e distinction. From what we understand plans and specifications have been in the hands of the P.W.D. since pre-war years. Grants have been placed on the estimates for several years and yet there appears to be little or no e*ffort made to bring them to fruition. In the new post-war plans for reconstruction, we certainly feel that Wnakatane's claim to priority is not only justified, but imperative.
