OUR VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE
THOSE who witnessed the efficient manner in which the members of the local Volunteer Fire Brigade controlled yesterday's spectacular fire outbreak could not help but be impressed with the remarkable service with which this town is endowed. On the jot* less than five minutes after the sounding of the alarm, the Brigadesmen speedily controlled an outbreak, which at the time of their arrival appeared to be completely out of hand. The public, as a rule, is all too apt to take the work of the Fire Brigade for granted Yesterday's demonstration illustrates once more, the fact that in our midst there still exists an organisation, the trained members of which are ready and willincr at all times to be of service to their fellows at a moment's notice. Here indeed is something which restores our faith in human nature in these days of acknowledged selfishness and individualism.
