WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB

SATURDAY'S RESULTS

Last Saturday the second of the three qualifying rounds for the championship was played. The weather was overcast and rain began to fall as the last players were finishing. The best rounds in the seniors were returned by Crailwick and Syme 83 each followed by Spence 85. In the intermediate, section Milne returned an 81 followed by Burstall 84. In the junior division Moody 7 Corbett and Denham all produced cards of 96. Players should take care to see that their cards are completed correctly and signed and dated by the marker and then placed in the card box. Quite- a number of cards are received which are not correctly completed and beginners are not the only offenders in this respect. Farewell Gathering On Saturday afternoon the club held a small function to bid farewell arid good luck to the popular Mr and Mrs Luke Rangi. After afternoon tea Mr Luxton made a few appropriate remarks and liand-sd Mr Rangi a small token of the. club's esteem. Mrs Winstone then presented Mrs Rangi with a pretty bouquet, Mr Rangi responded on their behalf. Mention was made of the success of Mr Luxton in winning the Arikikapakapa Cup at the Veterans tournament at Rotorua and Mr Campbell's great effort in being runnerup for the Veterans Cup and for securing several other trophies.
