TOWN AND COUNTRY
A HAPPY remark by Mr J., L, Burnett at v the meeting of the Patriotic Committee recently, was that patriotic responsibilities had succedeed in drawing town and; country interests closer together than they had ever been before. This may be regarded as one of the few beneficial results of war conditions,, but it is nevertheless a fact. In the town we have learnt much from the wonderful spirit of soeial and communal effort obtaining in most of the country districts during the current appeals. From the town, we trust that country residents will draw useful lessons in organisation, in goodwill and in the genuine desire to ; cooperate, which has possibly been conspicuous by its sence in other years. On the broad outcome of the annual Patriotic appeals there is every reason to feel confident that all communities throughout the whole district can
warmly congratulate themselves.
