THE PLUNKET SOCIETY
TOMORROW afternoon in the Methodist Hall, the annual meeting of the Whakatane Plunket Society takes place. With the advent of peace we now have breathing space to once again place first things first. Few organisations have as much to commend them as the Plunket Society, founded by the late Sir Truby King to arrest the alarming infant mortality rate in New Zealand. The success of its applied common sense in the care and nurture of children has made this country a living advertisement to the world. Nothing is of greater importance than the vital task of preparing healthy and well-trained citizens of the future* and one of the major tasks of the post-war world will be in the direction of laying the correct human foundations. Tomorrow's meeting provides Whakatane residents with the opportunity of assisting in this great work. All who .possibly can should now rally to the all important work of Caring for'the Babies.
