A severe and painful accident was sullered by a little, seven year old , Opotiki girl ; Jeanette Webb daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Webb last > Sunday afternoon when a large iron , wheel off an engine fell across her legs, breaking both legs. With her ' brother Harold aged 9 years, she was standing on the spokes of the which weighs about half a lon , when it suddenly began, to fall over. The boy jumped clear and called to his sister to do so also but she remained on the wheel with the lesult that her legs were crushed un/der the rim. . Ihe child's screams were heard 1 by her parents, and also by nc-.ig.h-- 1 hours. Mr Webb was endeavouring a to lever the heavy wheel off the I child's legs, when Mr Abbot and Mr c Bacon arrived to give assistance. I: Ihe injured girl was conveyed to h the Opotiki Hospital with her left t. thigh broken and her right Iteg broken just above the an'kle. C
