WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
July Meeting held The July meeting of the WaimanaNukuhou Women's Institute was held last Wednesday afternoon in the. Waimana Hall. Mrs Wylde presided over a good attendance of members and several visitors. The singing of the W.I. song opened the meeting after which Mrs Stevenson read the minutes and correspondence was dealt with. A most interesting letter was read from an absent -member Mrs John Addison. The arrangements for the Women's Institute birthday were carried out, it being decided to have a social afternoon with Sister Institutes invited to attend. The Golden Thread was given by Mrs a reading on when "Huggv Goes Shopping on Saturday Mornings" which created much merriment. A humorous monologue entitled f "My Bicycle" was given by Mrs Hewitt and greatly enjoyed by all. Being a cold afternoon, members enjoyed a Monte Carlo Waltz f Mrs McDonald and Miss Z. White being the winners. Mrs Cooper gave the report on the Drama meeting held in Whakatane recently. The day's competitions were as follows: Best single flower Mrs Woolfield 1; Mrs F. Bell 2; Miss Wardlaw 3. Best double flower Miss Wardlaw 1; Mrs King 2; Mrs Bell 3. Best Mrs Belli il; Mrs) Stansbury 2; Mrs Hewitt 3. Child's i'rock ? Mrs Cooper 1; Mrs Bell 2; Mrs Mortenson 3. Painted pantry tin Mrs Bell 1; Mrs I. Savage 2. The roll call "Six Things I Would Take to a Desert Island" was well answered and caused great amusement. The hostesses served a most appetising afternoon tea, after which Mrs Wylde thanked them the judges. Miss Jevviss and Mrs Martin and all who helped towards the programme. The singing of the National* Anthem closed the meeting.
