WHAT ALBERTA' IS DCMNG SOME INTERESTING FIGURES The following-is what the Social Credit Government of Allperta is do-r ing by way of rehabilitation, 'accord-* ing to Mr F. D. Danksin liis Whakatane address; — . . (1) On demobilisation' persons who have served in the Armed Forces or Merchant Marine shall receive full pay and allowances covering living costs for a period of not lessthan three years and until the in-r dividual has been established permanently in the life of the country; thereafter they shall receive a mon* thly income (irrespective of any earned income) sufficient to ensure adequate basic economic security for the family against loss of income through any cause whatever. (2) Disability pensions to be in addition to the foregoing and to be granted in all cases. of disablement from any cause whatever during service in the Armed Forces ors Mer-- < chant Marine. (3) Grants and loans for the purpose of acquiring land ? for becoming established in or for beeom-: ing established in any other remunerative undertaking requiring capi-r tal. (t) Dependents of persons who' ■ have been killed in action and of persons who have died while s&tfving in the Armed Forces shall be;,provided with a pension equivalent to full pay and all allowances including ■ subsistence, during the lifetinjfe of. the. mother or widow, and ? iir the case of the children until they become 18 years of age. ; Dependents of persons, not coming within the above categories who have died from any cause whatever since their discharge from the Armed Forces and Merchant Marine, to re-? ceive 75 per cent of the foregoing pension. (5) All persons who have served in the Armed Forces or Merchant, Marine shall be provided with .medical and hospitalisation services free with full pay and allowances for de-r pendents. (6) All the foregoing benefits to* be extended to persons in the auxiliary services. 'J. Land has been reserved by thg Alt berta Government to establish.*: -war veteffens. Surveys have been made to determine the quality of th®l soil. This must be suitable for the i pur-/ pose intended. Land will be tax free for three years; thereafter one-eiglith 6$ the crop will pay all administration costs. Title will ne granted free after 10 years. The sections comprise 164 ,aeres. This Government was the only body in Canada to present to the Special Parliamentary Committee oi-Post-war Reconstruction a definite plan for the financing of Post-war Reconstruction without increasing either the Public Debt or Taxation.
