SATURDAY'S GAMES PAROA 8 WHAKATANE 7 Football fans saw only one match at the Domain on Saturday, this being a hard fought contest between Paroa and YY'hakatane Juniors. The. game was fast and snatches of good football were in between much loose play. Packs were fairly evenly matched although the Paroa back line had the advantage. De'brosini playing for Whakatane, was outstanding in the position of half-back losing no opportunities of feeding his line. Bill Penny at full, was very safe, as also was W. llorn, playing fullback for Paroa. Stan Beaumont gained, all points for Whakatane with a field goal and a penalty nicely while for Paroa, T. Brown and C. Hakopa scored' tries. T. Riini's conversion of the second, gave Paroa the eight points-. SCOREBOARD WHAKATANE UNION Seniors Wainiana beat Poroporo 15-3. Juniors Poroporo beat Waimana 12-3. Paroa beat Whakatane 8-7.
RANGITAIKI UNION Seniors Te Teko drew with Otakiri 3-3. Matata beat Otakiri 18-0. Juniors Edgecumbe beat Matata 9-8. Thornton beat Otakiri 6-0. Te Teko beat Awakeri 14.-8.
