POWER SHORTAGE MORE ACUTE
CONTINUAL reminders from the Controller advise consumers that the existing supply of electrical energy, already limited by a process of rationing, may yet become even more restricted. It becomes necessary to warn users that every possible precaution should be exercised to conserve power, for lighting and for utility purposes. Whakatane has already been cut down to the absolute minimum, and according to latest reports is expected to remain at that fixed level irrespective of any new demands, such as may be created by the new hospital wing. It becomes a public duty for all consumers to economise to the utmost.
