RED CROSS ACTIVITIES

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Whakatane branch of the Red Gross Socio t} r took place on March 20. Mrs Sullivan read the president's report which with the 'balance sheet disclosed another satisfactory year's work. The election of officers resulted as follows: — President: Mrs Sullivan. Vice,-presidents>: Mesdames B. Barry L. Buddie and L. Sisam. Secretary: Mrs Winstone. Treasurer: Miss J. Hunter. Conveners, Knitting Circle: Mrs Timbs; Lady Gahvay: Mrs Moran; Comforts: Mrs Shaple3 r . Joint Council, Sewing: Mrs Ramson; Shop: Mrs James; Entertainments: Mrs L. King. It was decided that the Executive Committee, comprise the President ; Vice-presidents Secretary and Conveners. Mrs E. Armstrong resigned from the Entertainments Committee to act as Commandant of the V.A. Detachment. Votes of thanks were passed to the Auditor, Mr Good, Messrs Buddie and Otley, the. Treasurer. Miss Hunter Mr Kingsley-Smith, the Women's Institute for assistance with sewing, Patriotic j:>arcels and knitting and the Junior Red Cross also for sewing knitting and shop day efforts-. Mrs Caisley moved a vote of thanks- to the President- Vice-pre-sidents Secretary, Conveners and the Committee which was carried by acclamation.
