RUGBY SEASON PROSPECTS

RUGBY prospects for the season of 1945 appear to be lagging in Whakatane:. There appears to be little interest in the formation of competitional clubs, and there is a complete absence of that indefinable rugby 'sense.' In the country districts the reverse is the case. Once again Rangitaiki is organising the seven-aside tournament which opened the season's activities last year. On Saturday week (28th) this open competition which covers both senior and junior grades will be held at Edgecumbe. It is hoped that Whakatane clubs will once again be interested enough to send representatives to compete for the valuable trophies which are offered.
