MAORI OPINION IS WELCOME

THE initiative displayed by a local Maori writer to this paper on the subject of the dreaded scourge of tuberculosis is to be warmly commended. For years it would seem that the Pakeha authorities have been discussing the problems of the Maoris completely overlooking the: fact that this remarkable native race of which we are the trustees has been developing to an amazing extent and are now quite capable of giving their own opinions and active co-opera-tion. letters of this nature are indicative of thought and progresiveness which besides being of great value to the authorities, illustrate an awakening sense of responsibility which must be recognised.
