In a return match at Rangitaiki during the week-end tlie home team avenged its defeat eax'licr in the season by defeating Rotorua in a representative tennis encounter at Rangitaiki. Actually both teams, won 12 sets each but Rangitaiki won by 1(58. games, to 145. Perfect weather conditions prevailed but the hard courts proved troublesome to the visitors. Results were (Rotorua names being mentioned first): — Men's Singles: H. Rusbatch lost to W. Rutherford B—9; L. Jackson lost to, P. Burke 3—9; G. Vulgar beat R. Burke 9—B; H. Davis lost to K. Villis 4—9; T. Wanders lost to J. Mexted 7—9; J. Hedley beat J. Nyland 9—4. Ladies' Singles: Mrs Lee lost to Miss Burke 2 —7; Mrs Garlick beat Miss Mac Donald 7—5; Mrs Jackson lost to Mrs Marx 4—7;. Mrs Langgutli lost to Miss. Robins o—7;0 —7; Miss Thorp lost to Miss Vlaris 4—7; Mrs McDonald beat Mrs. McDonald 7 —o. Men's Doubles: Rusbatch and Jackson beat Rutherford and Burke 9 —B; Vulgar and Davis lost to Blair and Villis 7 —9; Wanders, and Hedley beat Mexted and Nyland 9—5.
Ladies' Doubles: Mrs Lee and Mrs McDonald beat Misses Burke and McDonald 7—4; Mrs Langgut hand Miss Thorp beat Misses Robins and Claris 7 —6.
Combined Deubles: Rusbatch and Mrs Lee lost to Miss Burke and Rutherford 7 —9; Jackson and Mrs Jackson beat Miss McDonald and Burke 9—B; Vuglar and Mrs McDonald beat Mrs McDonald and Blair 9 —3; Davis and Mrs Garliek beat Mrs Marx and Villis 9—7; Wanders and Mrs Langguth lost to Miss Robins and Mexted 4—9; Hedley and Miss Thorp lost to Miss Claris and Nyland B—9.
