WHAKATANE BRANCH MEETING At the recently held and well-at-tended meeting of the Whakatane Branch of the New Zealand National Party the following officers were elected:—Chairman: Mr H. G. Warren; vice-chairman: Mr J. Creeke; committee: Messrs C. S. Armstrong, T. A. Bridger, A. Hall, G. Otley and A. Shaw; secretary: Mr N. Hockin; treasurer: Mr L. Buddie; auditor: Mr T. Harland; delegates to Electorate Committee: The. Chairman and Secretary. An interesting address was given by Mr W. M.l\ } who dealt with recent legislation, adopted by the Government as well as legislation which he believed would be submitted to Parliament during the coming session. The. meeting was attended by Messrs F. J. Short and E. C. East, Electorate Chairman and Secretary respectively, who explained the new set-up of branches in the Whakatane area in which the Borough would be an independent part of local organisation. . Separate branches had been formed at outlying areas such as Awakeri Taneatua and Thornton, while Ohope and Poroporo Avould probably become part' of the W hakatane branch.
