GARDENING CIRCLE
The Waimana-Nukuhoe branch of the W.I. gardening circle held its monthly and annual meeting at the home ol' Mrs N. Cooper. Mrs Wool-* field in. the absence of Mrs John Addison, was in the chair. The minutes, report and balance sljeet were read by the secretary and adopted. The election of officers followed: — President, Mrs M. W. King; hon. secretary Mrs N. Cooper (re-elect-ed) ' A general discussion too'k place on a floral fan, armlet etc. and the making of same for the Eisteddfod. The'growing and cultivating'of asparagus was also discussed. After afternoon tea had been served by Mrs King and Mrs G. Mitchell, members walked around the garden, which was quite bright with (lowers. A competition, guessing the number of stones or pieces of concrete in a crazy path was won by Mrs Wylde. The results of the day's competitions were: —Flora! armlet and head band: Mrs Woolfield 1; Mrs Wylde 2; Mrs Cooper 3. Best vegetable: Mrs G, Mitchell 1; Mrs M. King 2; Mrs J. Mifchell 3.* Best flower: Mrs Woolfield 1: Mrs J. Mitchell 2; Mrs Hughes 3. The winners of the competitions during the past year were:—General competition: Mrs Wylde 1; Mrs Woolfield 2; Mrs J. Mitchell 3. Best flower: Mrs J. Mitchell 1; Mrs Wvkle 2; Mrs Woolfield 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Wylde 1; Mrs J. Mitchell 2; Mrs Woolfield 3. The president thanked Mrs Cooper for the pleasant day spent by all which concluded the meeting.
