BRIDE TO BE HONOURED

MISS THELMA ZINSLI

In view ol' her impending marriage to Mr T. Shaw, a number of gilt evenings have been accorded Miss Thelma Zinsli. daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Zinsli, of Whakatane, by different groups in her circle of friends. The first took place on Wednesday March 14 when country friends gathered at the residence of Mrs R. P. Shaw of Paroa where Miss Zinsli i J was the guest of honour at a gift evening.-Opportunity was also taken to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Shaw who are leaving the district. The evening was spent in dancing and competitions, while the usual opening of the parcels also took place. A kitchen evening was accorded Miss Zinsli on Thursday, March 15, when the Basketball girls and Mrs Pithy combined to form a surprise party which was an unqualified success. On behalf of the girls, Miss M. Reardon made a presentation from the club, while after supper, all gathered round while the parcels were opened. On Saturday 17, a pantry afternoon was held at the. residence of Mrs Longstaff in Goulstone Road, where the guest of honour received many useful gifts. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostess, and the afternoon passed in music and games. A presentation was also made to Miss Zinsli by the staff of Bridgers' Ltd. last Saturday, her last day in the employ of the firm. On behalf of the rest of the employees, Mr J. Sim presented her with a silver fruit bowl and extended to her their very best wishes for the future.
