CRICKET AND GOLF During this summer cricket has brought to Whakatane many visitors, players and others and these people, who have been so. -welcome on everj' occasion, have been particularly high in praise of local playing areas and facilities for cricket.
On every suitable occasion local cricket officials and followers of the game have informed visitors of the debt of gratitude which has come into being over the past season ) owed by local cricket to the intersport of local golf. At no small cost and inconvenience to itself the Whakatane Golf Club lias gone right out of its way, at perhaps its busiest time of the vear to make the lot of local cricket easier and the lot of visitors more pleasant by supplying the machinery and efforts' so necessary in the successful preparation of the playing field used. The Whakatane Golf Club has thereby not only done a service of immeasurable value to local cricket but has done a service of no less value to the township of Whakatane.
