CONTROL OF T.B.
RECENT HAMILTON CONFERENCE
BOARD DELEGATE'S REPORT
Reporting to the Whakatane Hospital Board on Thursday on the meeting of the provisional committee set up to go into the prospects of constructing a South Auckland sanatorium Mr C. A. Suckling said that '9 ° it had been proposed by the Wai. kato Board to build the new block on a 15-acre section at Rotukauri near Hamilton. Mr Suckling went on to say that the Waikato Board haid decided to build a 200£) ed chest block there in any case and consid-. ered that it would be an economic course to build the two institutions in order that the services could be combined where necessary and thus save the individual costs. All Boards stood firm on the decision that the Government should bear the full capital cost though the original scheme for only 150 beds was condemned as being too limited. Jt was now resolved to construct a building which would accommodate from 250 to 300 belds. It had V been decided that a report should be prepared upon the agreement between all Boards concerned regarding these matters which would later be submitted to the T.B. committee together with a medical report from doctors Gould, Guthrie, King, Short and Taylor. , When, these reports were available they would be submitted to the W T hakatane Board for information.
