Adviice has been received by Mr and Mrs Athol AVallace of Whakatane, that their eldest son ? WO. K. Wallace has been granted the rank of Pilot Officer in the R.N.Z.A.F.

Pilot-Officer Wallace was educated at. the Whakatane District High School and joined - the Air Force in 1940. After training in New Zealie qualified as a navigator and proceeded overseas to Libya and British East Africa. After some time in that locality he was invalided home and has since had .several tours of duty in the Pacific area. -He has the distinction of being among one of tlie first crews to take a Hu'son Bomber to that area.
