The death occurred last week of Mr George (Tini) Creeke of Matata; Born in Matata 07 years ago } the late Mr Creeke was a striking infill-, enee for good amongst the Maoris of this district. He was the second son of Mr W. J. Creeke of the Heads, and a brother to Joe; Creeke of this town.

Educated at Matata and Whakatane the late Mr Creeke served four years overseas with the Maori Battalion during the last, war, and on his return Avas road foreman for thei Wliakatane County Council for some years. His wife predeceased him some four years ago, i;
