AWAKERI BRANCH MEETS

ENJOYABLE EUCHRE TOURNEY

Thursday evening last saw a record attendance ; it the euchre tour,nament staged by the Awakeri Branch ol' the N.Z. Labour Party. Being the play-off for the. points prize over a series, of six games, the tournament excited considerable interest and .some keen games took place. The final count resulted in Mrs Newdick winning the ladies prize (Christmas 'dinner), and Mr Scow the gentleman's (Christmas hamper). A first class supper was served by the ladies after which the gathering endulged in dancing interspersed with vocal items. Mr Xew-i dick thanked all present for their support ar.'d wished them the compliments of the season. He expressed the hope that next year's, scries would meet with the same encouraging .support.
