WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
DRAMA FESTIVAL
The Bth Drama Festival of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women's Institutes was held at Taneatua on Monday October 16 before good audiences. Six teams competed Taneatua "The Great Dark"; Whakatane "War For Women''; Matata "A Family Occasion"; Waimana '"Such is Fame"; Edgecumbe "Widows-" and Otakiri "Get out. of Your Cage. 5 ' The acting on the whole, was very good and the audiences most preciative. The adjudicator, Mrs E. Connor of Tauranga f congratulated the players on the itfork they had done in making the Festival so successful, and also the Federations in carrying on in spite of Avar conditions. The result of the competition was: Otakiri 1; Whakatane and Taneatua 2; Matata 3. The prize for the best individual performance, was won by Miss- Ruth Tunnicliffe Otakiri. Mrs K. Arm--•J strong was the winner of the nut bowl.
