RUBBISH COLLECTION

BOROUGH COUNCIL'S DECISION
At the last meeting of the Borough Council, and with reference to the proposal to establish a refuse service for the business and residential areas of the the Borough Foreman-Engineer stated his estimate of cost, was £597 per annum total. This included £100 for the proper control and disposal of rubbish at the rubbish dump. It was resolved that the Council institute a regular refuse collection service throughout the whole Bor,ougli and the town business area as from April 1 the following conditions to apply:— (a) Collection to be once weekly from all shops and residences. (b) Occupiers to provide own conwith lids, sanitary and suitable in all respects. (c) Containers to be approximate.ly 2 cubic feet and to be placed outside premises according to the directions of the Council. (d) That a uniform annual fee of 15/- be levied coincident with the levying of the Borough rates upon each, separately occupied or portion of premises, from which the Council is prepared to remove all refuse. (e) That this fee apply to the re.moval of rubbish from the container referred to above additional quantities to be removed from payment of additional fees. (f) That a two weekly service be given where required on payment of an additional fee similar to that previously prescribed. (g) That the Council consider, on its merits in each case, from owners with an area of land of 1 acre or more i applications for exemption from the service.
