OPPOSITION VOICED
POSTAL AND ABSENTEE VOTING
VIEWS OF COUNTY
COUNCILLORS
Opposition to postal and absentee voting was voiced at the conference of representatives of ten county councils in Tauranga last week it being decided that this form of voting be not supported.
When the subject of voting was being discussed a one representative expressed the opinion that the sys* tern formerly employed of crossing out the, names one did not want was more satisfactory than the present method.
It was pointed out however that the old system left room for ineffi-i ciencies and that there had been a number of informal votes.
The chairman, Mr J. L. remarked that it gave the voter great satisfaction to cross; out the
names he did not want
After further discussion, the motion was put to the meeting and carried on a show of hands.
