INCREASED WAGES
WORKERS ON DAIRY FARMS NEW RATE; FROM AUGUST Ist The Primary Production Council has had their attention drawn to the newly gazetted Agricultural Workers' Wage Fixation Order 1944. governing wages to be paid to workers on dairy farms as from Ist August, 1944. In accordance with this order the minimum wages are fixed as follows until the 31st July, 1945, and thereafter until a fresh order is made:— Under 17 years of age £1 11 9 17 and under 18 years £2 0 9 18 and under 19 years £2 9 9 19 and under 20 years £2 19 6 20 and under 21 years £3 8 6 21 years and over £3 17 6 An additional £1 per week must be paid where, keep is not. provided. To provide for these new rates of wages, an increase of 1.21 d per lb. butterfat is to be added to the guaranteed price.
