MEETING AT OTAKIRI

♦ 11 The monthly meeting of the Ota--kiri Women's Institute was held in the Otakiri Hall on Wednesday,, July 5. Mrs Armstrong presided over a — very good attendance. The meeting opened with the, "Ode to Friendship." A report was given by Mrs F. Mayo, who was delegate: to the Drama Festival meeting. A talk on vegetable growing by Mrs Armstrong was much enjoyed by all, as also was a talk on shrubs, by Mrs Peck. Several new members were wcl- . coined and seemed keenly interested. As , this meeting was ~a gardening one,, there was a wall competition on "Leaves" taken from the llower ■ and vegetable garden and was won by Mrs. D. Gaulfleld. The trading stall was well stocked and very well patronised. The following monthly competitions were announced as follows:— Best flower: Mrs Lord 1; Mrs Missen 2; Mrs Peck 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Hancock 2; Mrs Armstrong 3. Belgian biscuits: Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Missen 2; Mrs, Hancock 3. Winter decoration for effect: Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Armstrong 2; Mrs Mantell 3. Pie Melon jam: Mrs Peck 1; Mrs G. Murray 2; Mrs Lord 3. The meeting then closed with the National Anthem.
