Distribution of Coal
"The disposal of the coal mined on the West Coast of the South Island is carefully considered, and care is exercised to ensure that the South Island consumers are supplied with a fair proportion of available, coal," states the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, in a letter received by the Mayor of Christchurch, in reply to representations made by the executive of the, South Island local bodies.
